ITILv3's future uncertain in many IT shops - Network World

Interesting article about the prospects that ITIL V3 will be widely adopted by IT Shops. Not surprsingly, a survey by IDC indicates a reluctance by many IT organizations to adapt their ITIL progams to the V3 concepts. What many fail to realize is that there is no need to revamp entire programs based on V2 to V3. All of the V2 concepts remain valid and are still accepted as best practice. V3 is merely an expansion of the ITIL concepts to incorporate all of the information included in the other books of the V2 library. Most organizations, still struggling to achieve sufficient maturity in V2 process areas, will be overwhelmed by much of the information. Therefore, they should continue to focus on continuously refining and improving their existing processes.
